Stage 2 or 3?
The Employability Fund programme is flexible to allow you to achieve your goals. To do this we offer the Employability Fund at Stages 2 and 3. To find out more about the stages of the Employability Fund and what this means to you Employability in Scotland has an interactive chart to show you the progression.
Our Stage 2 programme is designed to support you to overcome any barriers that you may have to employment and build on your strengths. Most learners at this stage won't have had any experience in a working environment. Throughout this programme we will support you to build on your confidence, team working abilities, awareness of your impact in the community, promote healthy and active lifestyles and most importantly gain at least 2 weeks work experience. Your course will be made up of 4 - 6 weeks within the l&g learning centre and then at least 2 weeks in a work placement within your chosen vocational area.
Completion of the stage 2 programme will allow you to progress along the Employability pipeline to Stage 3, move into further education, Modern Apprenticeships or into a job.
You have the opportunity to progress with l&g learning or we will work with you to source a suitable training provider to continue your learning.
At stage 3 you will be 'job ready' but may lack the formal experience within your chosen vocational area. On this course you will attend the l&g learning centre for up to 4 weeks where you will take part in CV workshops, confidence building for interviews and working as part of a team. You will then learn the skills required for your chosen vocational area which you will put into practice within a work placement. The work placement is the most important aspect of your training as it will allow you to test your suitability for the sector, receive constructive feedback on your strengths and areas you may need to develop. At the end of the placement you will able to update your CV with the additional skills you have acquired and will have 2 excellent references.
On completion of the stage 3 programme there may be opportunities to progress into employment within your work placement however this is entirely dependent on your performance and the placements availability. We will support you to apply for further learning opportunities, Modern Apprenticeships, college courses and jobs depending on your individual targets.

Support after the course
We continue to work with and support learners with progressing onto college, jobs or modern apprenticeships. We do this by providing a Job Club service which is available to all previous learners who require some additional advice and guidance on getting into that next step. This is a drop-in service offered on a Wednesday afternoon between 1 and 4 pm. The tutors at l&g learning will keep in touch through social media and phone calls to ensure the best possible supports are continued long after the course has ended to ensure that learners not only achieve their goals but sustain them.
