Learn new skills, interview techniques, and get sqa qualifications


Spend your first weeks of the course learning new skills, meeting new people and gaining SQA qualifications. You can expect to work on confidence building, interview techniques, and preparing your CV. Find out more here.

The second half of the course will be carried out as a work placement. You will get to choose where you want to work, and we will support you throughout your time. It gives you invaluable experience and insight to the real workplace.

After the course you will have achieved your SQA qualifications and carried out your placement. You will now have an up-to-date CV, and good references which will help you progress into a job, further education or a
Modern Apprenticeship.

This course is aimed at those aged 16+ who are currently unemployed, and interested in starting a career in Childcare, Adult Care or Social Services sectors.

How much do I get paid?

If you are aged 16-17 you will receive a training allowance of £55 per week. If you are 18+ your Univeral Credit or Job Seeker's Allowance will not be affected. In addition to this you will be reimbursed for any money you spend on travel each week. 

Will I get a qualifcation?

All learners will take part in SQA qualifications at level SCQF 4 or above. These will be chosen by you depending on what you want to achieve. Some examples are the Certificate of Work Readiness, and Employability Awards.

Where does the course take place?

Training will take place at our office which is in Glasgow City Centre. We are at 127 St Vincent Street Glasgow, G2 5JF just a few minutes walk from Glasgow Central Station and Queen Street Station.

What courses can I take part in?

We have strong links within the Care sector, including Childcare and Adultcare. We also have courses available for people interested in Retail and Hospitality. The course is flexible and if you are interested in another career we will do our best to accommodate this.

How long is the course?

The course runs for 8 weeks, however this is flexible and can sometimes be extended up to 12 weeks to provide you sufficient time to successfully achieve a qualification and move on.

What do I need to get onto the course?

There are no formal entry requirements, however you must show an interest and be eager to work. You must also live in the Glasgow area, and be unemployed.
