Carly’s passion for childcare started early, as she balanced her studies at Cumbernauld Academy with practical experience in early learning. Completing her National 5 in Early Learning and Childcare gave her a strong foundation, while her work in Sport Development and lesson planning for younger primary school children further honed her skills. Carly also gained valuable insight into the working world through her role in a local fast-food restaurant, building confidence and adaptability.
Determined to take the next step in her career, Carly applied to the L&G Learning Childcare Apprenticeship while still in school. Her commitment and enthusiasm stood out, earning her a trial day at Little Hands Nursery. She impressed the staff team, and without hesitation, was offered the job.
With dedicated support from her assessor and employer, Carly embraced the challenges of the apprenticeship with resilience and hard work. In under 12 months, she successfully achieved her SVQ Level 3 qualification, an impressive feat made even more remarkable as she navigated personal challenges along the way.
Her dedication did not go unnoticed. In her final review, Linzi praised Carly’s perseverance, saying,
“Despite a tough few weeks, you have managed to complete the qualification, showing your commitment and dedication. Really proud of your achievement, hope you are too. Good luck with your new role as a qualified practitioner”
Lorna, The Manager of Little Hands Nursery, added to this praise by saying,
“Carly has worked incredibly hard over the past year to achieve her qualification. She has shown a high level of commitment from day one and has never faltered from this. Carly has shown great strength and determination to continue to work towards and achieve her qualification even through the toughest of times in her personal life.
