Funding Incentives

Below are the current funding initiatives available to you to help with recruitment and upskilling your workforce. Please note that these incentives are ever changing and may only be available for short periods of time. Get in touch to see how we can support you to take on apprentices or upskill your team.

Adopt an Apprentice

If you are employing an apprentice who has been made redundant you may be entitled to funding to cover the costs of wages and recruitment.

Further information can be found here at Skills Development Scotland’s website.

Glasgow Guarantee

The Glasgow Guarantee is an employability support programme delivered by Glasgow City Council which provides wage funding for employers who recruit an employee or Modern Apprentice from the pool of Glasgow Guarantee eligible candidates.

To be eligible for the Glasgow Guarantee, employers must fit the following criteria:

  • be based within the Glasgow City Council boundary;

  • employ less than 250 employees;

  • be a private company, social enterprise or third sector organisation;

  • hold current public and employers’ liability insurance;

  • intend to recruit for a new full time post(s) within the next 18 months;

  • agree to only recruit from the Glasgow Guarantee pool of candidates

Further information can be found on the Glasgow Guarantee website.

Modern Apprenticeship funding

Our Modern Apprenticeships are supported by funding through Skills Development Scotland. Funding towards each apprenticeship varies depending on sector, level or qualification and age of the apprentice.

Funding based on age is categorised as follows:

  • 16 - 19

  • 20 - 24

  • 25 and over

For apprentices who are disabled and / or care experienced, there is an enhanced funding contribution up to and including age 29.

For candidates aged 16 – 19 and candidates eligible for enhanced funding (up to age 29), Skills Development Scotland will supply full funding and therefore will not require any employer contribution.

Further information regarding the rate of pay for your apprentice can be found on the Government website.
