Billie Melrose - Hillfoot Nursery

A Journey of Determination, Growth and Achievement

Billie Melrose joined Hillfoot Nursery in November 2025 to begin her Children & Young People Modern Apprenticeship, and in just 8 months, she successfully completed her qualification, a remarkable achievement that reflects her dedication, resilience and passion for Early Years practice.

Billie’s pathway into childcare was shaped by a strong academic foundation. After leaving school, she progressed to college to study Psychology, followed by further study at university. Alongside her academic journey, Billie gained valuable hands‑on experience working in an after school setting, which strengthened her confidence and practical understanding of supporting children. This experience played a key role in her successful interviews with both Hillfoot Nursery and L&G Learning.

Starting her apprenticeship at 24 years old, Billie is a powerful example that Modern Apprenticeships are not just for school leavers, they are an accessible, supportive and rewarding route for adults looking to build a meaningful career in Early Years.
